Hello, Emmanuel Family!
Well, it’s been 13 weeks since we have officially been together. I know a lot has happened and not much has happened. I heard someone say that, “The Church never closes because the Church is people. We are a global powerhouse. The Church is a global, national, regional and local movement of the Holy Spirit in people. We are a global powerhouse that had its origin in Acts 2 on Pentecost Sunday!” I like that and it’s true. The Church is not a building.
The last few weeks have been especially hard and the brokenness of our world has hit a tipping point. We need God and we need to be with each other. Although the family of God has not gathered as usual the Church never closed. But, I’m excited to say that we are meeting again this weekend!
So, let’s GO!
Sunday, June 14, 9:30AM
As we slowly walk back into our gathering, there are a few details that we would like to communicate.
Our service will be shorter than in the past. It will probably be around 60 minutes, maybe less. We will have a few songs, congratulate our graduating students, spend time in the Word to wrap up our 1 Thessalonians Looking Forward series, and then we will be out.
For this week, June 14, we are capping the service at 75 people in the building, which allows lots of space between households.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide childcare, coffee, or other refreshments.
When you arrive, the front of the sanctuary and the back door by the ramp will be open. The leadership at this time advises that masks be worn inside and outside while on campus. If you forget yours, we will have some here.
The front door into the main hall will be closed. Obviously, restrooms will be available.
Hosts will be seating front to back. I will give the benediction from the rear and dismiss pews rear to front.
Instead of offering plates passed around during the service, there will be a box for your offering in the back. Please drop off your offering as you enter or exit. You are also welcome to give by mailing in a check or by giving online at ebcnorfolk.org/give. Thank you to all who have given by check and online during the past few months.
We understand that the circumstances of many will keep them from attending this Sunday and so we will have the recorded service uploaded to ebcnorfolk.org/worship as soon as we can following the service.
If there is even a hint that you are sick, please stay home.
Our primary way for safely gathering is that we are being observant of our social distance and being respectful of others.
I’m excited to see you all and I hope you can make it!
Grace and Peace,
